Wyoming 2
Arriving at the south entrance.
An evening visit to Old Faithful.
We stayed in Grant's Village campground.
We walked the grounds and viewed more features
and bison, then decided on a tour of the classic hotel/lodge.
A refreshment on the upper deck seemed
appropriate at the time--still does.
The next day took us up to an overlook to view
Old Faithful and the geyser basin. Nice hike.
Plenty of steaming pools and geysers to see.
In the Norris Geyser Basin.
In the Lower Geyser Basin
Even though we tried to get the bison to pose, he would not.
Mammoth Hot Springs near the classic north entrance.
More Mammoth Hot Springs.
Roosevelt Arch at the north entrance was under renovation.
In 1903 Roosevelt mortared in the cornerstone.
"FOR THE BENEFIT AND ENJOYMENT OF THE PEOPLE."
Enjoyment here! as we soaked in the confluence of the
Boiling and the Gardner Rivers before
our two hour return drive to Grant Village.
We left Yellowstone at the east entrance and visited Cody
while staying in Buffalo Bill State Park.
The monument for Bill.
There was a great number of sculptures around this picturesque town.
Just west of Cody is the real location of Colter's Hell.
Getting ready to hike three miles at 9600 ft.
to view the Medicine Wheel.
It is a 300 to 800 year old Prayer wheel.
Some archeologists think that the wheel shows astronomical alignments.

On the hike you can see a cold war radar installation
that is still used today for both military
and civilian air traffic control.
Judy is learning more at the wheel.
We enjoyed this walk and were able to view numerous
Heading to our over night stay after the Medicine Wheel.
The view from our campsite in the Big Horn Canyon NRA.
The Big Horn Canyon and the Devil Canyon
intersect just behind Judy.
Montana bound.
