We spent two weeks on this route through Wyoming.
First stop was a visit and hike on the trail to
the highest point in the state, Gannett Peak.
The Wind River Range contains five of the largest
glaciers in the Rockies.
Fremont Lake (near Pinedale) is 1 X 9 miles and 600 ft deep.
It is the second largest natural lake in WY.
It is always good to view wildlife.
Jackson is near the National Elk Refuge.
Each year volunteers gather antlers and there is an auction.
The four corners of the town square are nearly identical.
It would be interesting to know how many antlers were in each arch.
Downtown Jackson
The southern entrance to the park.
We arrived on a dreary day, and the mountains
displayed different beautiful.
Still no moose sighting, so we had to improvise.
On Jenny lake.
We took the shuttle across the lake,
then hiked to Hidden Falls.
Up the mountain toward Hidden Falls.
Along the trail.
We thought the one half mile hike to Hidden Falls
was the longest half mile hike we have ever done!
Between Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks
is this Memorial Parkway.
Lots of people use the parkway,
but relatively few stop to explore.
This trip, we explored a little.
Off to a couple of hot springs to soak.
It is illegal to soak in the springs themselves,
but you can in the stream they form.
There were several user-made pools to choose from.
We had to ford Polecat Creek where I became a pack mule.
While Judy dropped her drawers to cross
so her jeans remained dry.
Pants back on!
One of the runoff streams form Polecat Hot Springs.
Judy in the 100 degree water.
Above a travertine formation caused by the
deposition of minerals from the spring water.
Soaking the feet and calves.
Huckleberry Hot Springs pool in the
beautiful middle of nowhere.
