Grand Canyon

Our route through Arizona.

At Mather Point--having fun.

I first had to crawl to the edge before posing.

Looks more scary in person.
On the way to Hermits Rest.

Overlooking Monument Creek.

Me too!

Judy is on the rock jutting over the canyon.

Near Hermits Rest.  From here you can see the
Colorado River.

Inside Hermits Rest, taking one.

In a juniper tree.  During harsh times these trees will
allow limbs to die to save the whole tree.

Above Granite Rapids--way below.

The pack mule train coming up Bright Angel Trail.

Evening at Mather Point with endangered
California Condors on the rocks near center of picture.

Three condors jockeying for the best roost.

Mather Point with condors.

Soaring condor.  They were
re-introduced several years ago and
appear to be doing well.

Condor soaring on the thermals of the canyon.

A small hike to the Ohh-Ahh Point and
lunch down the South Kaibab Trail.

South Kaibab Trail.

Coming up the switchbacks ahead of the mule train.
South Kaibab Trail.
The 1.6 mile hike looked and felt longer, especially
on the way back to the top.

Desert View with Mary Colter's
Watchtower.
She is a famous architect with many
locally inspired buildings in the Southwest.

On the Watchtower.

Overlooking the Colorado River at
Horseshoe Bend in the Glen Canyon NRA
near Page, AZ.
