Florida and northward

Our route

Tallahassee home base.

Florida State University, Tallahassee.

A rare passport stamp.

And the visit.

Through Alabama

The Civil Rights Museum in Birmingham.

George Wallace directed the National Guard
to prevent the desegregation of Alabama schools.
President Kennedy federalized the National Guard
then withdrew them.
One response by white supremacists was to plant in the
16th Street Baptist Church where it killed 4 girls.

Location of the bomb blast.

Kelly Ingram Park, part of the
Birmingham Civil Rights National Monument.

The Freedom Riders National Monument in Anniston.
Our 372nd National Park.

The Freedom riders were civil rights activists who
rode interstate buses into the segregated south.
They were testing to see if the bus facilities were
complying with the U.S. Supreme Court
that struck down segregation in interstate travel.

Nashville area RV park country music concert, with rainbow!
