INDIANA 2011

Click around on the clock above--enlightening.

Route and stops through Indiana.

This is the farm where Judy grew up.  Her brother, Jack
now owns the home place.  Notice the daylilies on the right.

There are those daylilies again.
Our motorhome is parked out back but not in view.
This is Judy's sister (Catherine) and brother-in-law's (Lauren) place.
We wanted you to see how close the properties are.
In fact, Judy has three brothers, a sister, and two nieces
who live within two miles of this location.

This is great nephew, Lincoln Paul.

Lincoln's big sister, Aspen

With self-applied lipstick!

Uncle Eric (Dennis' brother) and Lincoln.

We spent several days here.  It is close to Bloomington,
IU, famous tourist area Nashville, and Brown County
State Park.

Lake Monroe, a Corp of Engineers lake, in the National Forest.

Our site in the NF--we are smoking salmon for dinner.

And toasting for the camera.

It's ready!
YUM.

Indiana University campus, one of the most beautiful in the country.
Just quoting the brochure.

Here is some beauty.

Bloomington is the home of Hoagy Carmichael.
If interested you should be able to read the sign.

The other side of the sign.

Dennis and Hoagy writing songs on IU's campus.

Downtown Nashville, IN.
We could not find a country honky-tonk here like the other Nashville.
However, we did visit bluegrass music's creator Bill Monroe's
auditorium and museum in Bean Blossom.

The tourist trapped in his native habitat.

Crafty, happy reindeer.

Bean Blossom's covered bridge on the way to town.

The next seven pictures.

This is the first two-lane covered bridge we've seen.

Judy, in the brush near the red covered bridge.

A HUGE pool at the state park.  There were only 9 swimmers.
(over built?)

Hiking around one of the lakes in the park.

An old fire tower that you can still climb (and we did),
now doubling as a cell tower.

From the top.

Dennis is fixing the short in our electrical connection between vehicles.

Our site in Indian Lakes TT.  When I took this picture, it was
104 degrees.  (See final picture.)  I had to make several adjustments in Picasa
so it would not look too hot.

Through the spinning wheel!  We played a little.
Judy wins about half of the time.
It seems fair that she allows me a few victories.

Ahhh!

HELP!

INDIANA 2011--Heinze reunion

Route and stop-so far-in Indiana.
We are now in Batesville, IN, at the Indian Lakes Thousand Trails Park.

The annual Heinze reunion at a city park in New Albany.

Lots of great food and plenty of good company.

Some brought their own drinks--grand niece, Kathy.

Great grand niece, Isabella, with a bubble machine.

Judy's brother,  Douglas (Isabella's great grandpa).

Great grand nephew Alex, assembling planes.
Sorry, grand nephew Ryan, you were too fast for a close up picture.
We hope that you are still flying your kite really high!

Judy's niece, Diane, and her daughter, Kendall, enjoying the kids' toys.

The clean up crew?!
Kathy Turner, Sue Roberts, Patty Butler, Judy Roberts, Juanita Yost, Dorothy Oakes, and Judy Paul

KENTUCKY 2011

We know that this is NOT Kentucky, but we had to visit
Kentucky's high point (our 45th).
The high point is nearly in Virginia!

Black Mountain summit.

The summit.  Obviously, the "hike" was long and streneous.
Notice the flip flops.

Here is Kentucky's route and stops.

Hiking to Natural Bridge near the Red River Gorge.

The rhododendrons were in bloom and the hike was
a pleasant couple of hours on our last run to Indiana.

Judy and the bridge.

The viewing area for the bridge--the bridge is behind us.

From the viewing point.

To save time, we rode the ski lift down.
Nice views here, too.

Brother Eric, me, and brother Stephen.
We are in Eric and Martha's "cabin" on Rough River reservoir.
He is expanding and remodeling in preparation for
retirement and full-time living at the lake.

OF COURSE! there were card games!
Stephen, Martha (Eric's wife), Dennis, Eric, and the champ (Judy).
We are in Stephen and Brenda's "cabin".
They built it a year or so ago--also in preparation for retirement
and permanent lake living.
Brenda had to leave for a family reunion, so she was
automatically designated as the loser!
